Rep Kathleen Cates’s work on securing rights for people with disabilities has been highlighted in an opinion article in the Santa Fe New Mexican:
We appreciate the work of Rep. Kathleen Cates, D-Rio Rancho, who is seeking to pass legislation that would, among other things, set up an office of accessibility for the state.
It also would require state agency websites, apps and physical facilities meet digital and physical accessibility standards, and ensure data regarding ADA violations would be found in one place.
In an era of federal deregulation, stronger state laws are critical in keeping people safe. It is time for New Mexico to act.
