ARCA Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser

Representative Cates is proud to announce that she will be joining the ARCA foundation advisory board. This organization helps people with intellectual, developmental, and cognitive disabilities.

She also attended the 14th annual ARCA Foundation Bowl-a-thon on June 7 at Tenpins & More. Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull, Estancia Mayor Nathan Dial and Mountainair Mayor Peter Nieto participated in a friendly competition called “Mayors on Strike.”

Previous owner Steve Mackie of Tenpins & More said over the last 14 years he has helped ARCA to raise more than $1.2 million in donations with this event. The new owner, Michael Fagan, plans to keep the fundraiser and tradition going for years to come. ARCA has several fundraising events throughout the year to include their geranium celebration in spring and their poinsettia sale in the fall.

Felician Villa Grand Opening

The Felician Villa had a grand opening on June 3 in Rio Rancho with 132 new apartments for seniors 55 and older at 1301 Stephanie Rd SE in Rio Rancho. This is the third phase of housing developed by Chelsea Investment Corporation that offer affordable housing to New Mexicans over 19 municipalities. All potential tenants will need to fall into making 30 to 60 percent or less of the Area Median Income to apply.

Sandoval County Indivisible June Meeting

The Sandoval County Indivisible chapter hosted a meeting at Village Pizza on June 4 with a huge turnout to hear Attorney General Raul Torrez speak. AG Torrez had some inspiring words and gave locals some hope in how his office and other officials around the country are attempting to combat how our government is currently being run on a national level.

CNM Groundbreaking at RioTECH Campus

Central New Mexico Community College had a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Transportation Technology Center at RioTECH campus on May 22. In partnership with Rio Rancho Public Schools, CNM will offer specialized automotive and electric vehicle technology programs to bring students into the 21^st century. This will be New Mexico’s first electric vehicle program, which will also offer work-based learning at local vendors and dealerships.

St. Felix Pantry Dinner

St. Felix Pantry hosted a free dinner to the community on June 3 at the Italian American Club. Dozens of families came out and volunteers cooked a special meal for guests. The event was sponsored by Comcast, who generously donated venison tacos to the menu. Kathleen came to support the pantry and their efforts to feed Rio Rancho families. St. Felix offers weekly grocery access to any New Mexican family in need once a week.
